Turkey is a country that spans two continents, Europe and Asia, with the majority of its landmass located in Asia (Anatolia) and a smaller portion in southeastern Europe (Thrace). The country is bordered by eight countries: Greece and Bulgaria to the northwest, Georgia to the northeast, Armenia, Azerbaijan (Nakhchivan exclave), and Iran to the east, and Iraq and Syria to the south. It also has coastlines along the Mediterranean Sea to the south, the Aegean Sea to the west, and the Black Sea to the north.
